Why Save Severus Hill?

We have unique and rare opportunity to do something good in 2024. The current landowners have given Friends of Severus Hill until May/June 2024 to put in a community bid for the site, to benefit it's preservation and future.

Severus Hill, located in the historic city of York, holds a fascinating past. It was believed to be the site of the cremation of Roman Emperor Septimius Severus, and during World War II, an unexploded bomb was dropped on the site. Today, it stands as a symbol of nature's resilience in an urban environment, providing a sanctuary for wildlife and playing an essential part in improving York's biodiversity.

In Spring 2024 Friends of Severus Hill will be launching a community fundraising initiative to put local residents in the best place for making a bid for the site in Summer 2024.
